Frequently Asked Questions

Is WRO Uganda the same as school robotics lessons?

+

No. WRO Uganda is a national competition. School robotics programs provide training and skill-building, while WRO Uganda offers a competitive platform where students apply their skills in official challenges with national and international recognition.

Why does WRO Uganda have a separate participation fee?

+

The participation fee covers official WRO registration, competition materials, judging, event logistics, national championship access, and eligibility for global finals. It's separate from school-based robotics lessons, which focus on training.

Can a school join WRO without Mindset Coders programs?

+

Yes. Any school with a robotics program can register a team for WRO Uganda competition through the Open Team pathway. Mindset Coders provides optional training and kit support through the Guided Team pathway.

What is the difference between Guided Teams and Open Teams?

+

Guided Teams (UGX 1,000,000) include a WRO-approved robotics kit and extended technical supportβ€”ideal for schools new to robotics. Open Teams (UGX 450,000) are for experienced schools that bring their own equipment and only need competition registration.

Are teams judged differently based on tier?

+

No. All teams compete under the same official WRO rules and are evaluated by the same judging standards, regardless of participation tier. The tier only affects what support materials your team receives.

How many students are in a team?

+

Each WRO team consists of 2-3 students (ages 8-22) plus 1 coach. Teams compete in their respective age categories.
